Monthly Construction & Environmental Project Updates

March 2015

West End (SR 79)

  • Utility work related to fiber optic lines and gas relocation work ongoing.
  • Jefferson County water line installation (under separate NPDES permit) ongoing near SR 79 and Green Drive. BMPs installed by Jefferson County contractor.
  • Land disturbing activities started for Sedimentation basins 5 on west side of SR79.
  • Rock buttress for Basin 5 to include approximately 6500 tons of Class II rip rap.
  • Sediment Retention Barrier (silt fence and hay bales) installed on south side of Self Creek.
  • Temporary Sedimentation basins 31 and 32 (with pumps and skimmers) on SR 79 functioning properly. Active stormwater treatment applied as necessary to discharge clean water.


Mainline (Station 2150 to Station 2235 at SR 75)   

  • Jefferson County water line installation ongoing along SR75. BMPs installed by Jefferson County contractor.
  • On-going construction
    • Soil Nail Wall
    • Blasting of rock throughout mainline section as needed
    • Removing waste soil to off-site pit.
    • Finished slopes stabilized and protected.
  • Perimeter and other appropriate BMPs being installed as required or needed.
  • Temporary, permanent, and post-construction BMPs remain in place.

  • 14 Rain Days: 3/2 (0.39”), 3/4 (0.34”), 3/6 (0.91”), 3/9 (0.09”), 3/10 (0.27”), 3/11 (1.03”), 3/13 (0.15”), 3/14 (0.09”), 3/19 (0.20”), 3/20 (0.05”), 3/21 (0.08”), 3/23 (1.18”), 3/27 (0.16”), 3/30 (0.73”)
  • Total rainfall for March was approximately 5.67 inches
  • No non-compliant water issues for the month of March 2015.
